Paintings and their frames are made of several different materials.

These oil paintings include: varnish, glue, paint, canvas, wood, metal, gilding and plaster. Put all together they would form a complex structure, which could be easily damaged if dropped or knocked. The materials are also too sensitive and could be damaged by its surrounding atmosphere, extremes and changes in humidity and heat, amount of light and dirt.

How To Buy Oil Paintings

I have a custom made oil painting displayed in my living room. I gaze upon it each day. It’s a portrait of a woman during sunset and half turned. Every single day I look at it and I am amazed as to what she might be thinking, sometimes I feel as though the painting has changed somehow. It gives new meaning every time I see it. Every person who has looked at it had a different interpretation of what the Painting suggested. It sparks the imagination. It triggers your emotion and makes you think. Such is the power of those glossy portraits created by the brilliant artists.

Campbell’s Soup Cans, 1962, Andy Warhol, American 1928-1987), Acrylic on canvas, series of 32 paintings, each canvas 20″x 16″ (50.8cm x 40.6cm). Currently in the collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Warhol first exhibited his series of Campbell’s soup can paintings in 1962, with the 32 canvases hung so the bottom of each painting rested on a shelf in a parody of soup cans on a supermarket shelf. The 32 acrylic paintings in the series were a very literal representation of the number of varieties of soup sold at the time by Campbell’s, with each label noting a different flavor.

Cartooning is not about drawing it is about telling stories. Yes, even when you are drawing a single illustration you are telling a story. Cartooning is about expressing your thoughts. And it is your thoughts expressed beautifully through your cartoon characters that make you different from other average cartoon makers.

But as in every other field of life here also you must learn to walk first before you try running. To express your thoughts and ideas through your cartoon characters, you need to master the skill of cartoon drawing first. Then of course you can use your cartoon drawing skills to tell story to your liking.

OK - you have paints, brushes, palette, a painting surface and some water but where do you start? When you are beginning with acrylic paints it can appear to be very complicated!
Every painter has their own process, but I like to start at the back of the picture and work forward. In other words I start by painting the background and things that are furthest away and then work forward from there.
I paint a lot of landscapes and seascapes and it makes sense to start at the farthest away area. Usually this means starting with the sky. Then the distant land areas, middle distance land, and finally the foreground area.
